CONFIRMATION AT UNITY Presbyterian Church
with Pastor Linda Peters

Here is my confirmation plan for this year, 2013.  Meet for an hour/half every Thursday from 4:00 – 5:30 beginning April 11 – May 2.  Confirmation is very different than just joining a church for a person who has already confirmed their faith.  I want confirmands to be well informed of what they are being asked to do.  I want them to make an informed decision to join the church of Jesus Christ.  This is not just about joining Unity.  I have three areas of which I like to focus:  Bible, Devotional Life, and Mission.

Bible is an in-depth look at how the Word of God is an integral part of our lives, NOT just our faith.  Mostly we will look at the major stories of God's call to serve:  Abraham and Sara, Moses, Isaiah, Mary and the Disciples.

Devotional Life: Covers our prayer life and worship.  Confirmands will be expected to serve in worship as: acolytes, greeters, and or liturgists.

Mission:  I would love for any confirmand to go on a mission trip. There are resources with PYOCA (see: /www.camppyoca.org), Synod events or with our denomination's national and international work, but we can also visit local missions.

The major assignment is to write a statement of faith and then share that with Session before confirmation in worship.

One of the challenges but also a joy for small congregations is confirmation is often a one on one experience. Contact me if you have any questions:  Linda Jo Peters, 299-2206
